Manchester City have officially announced the signing of defender Nathan Ake from Bournemouth as they look for improvement next season
Manchester City have completed the signing of Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake as Pep Guardiola's rebuild begins to take shape for next season.
Ferran Torres, the exciting young Spanish winger, has already been confirmed as a Blue this week in a £21m deal with Valencia. And 25-year-old Ake will bolster the defence after signing in a £40m package from recently-relegated Bournemouth.
Dutch international Ake has been admired by Guardiola for some time despite playing for one of the Premier League's most generous defences, and his arrival at the Etihad will strengthen the squad - as well as placing the futures of Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones further into doubt.
Ake, like Torres, will join up with his new teammates in time for the new season rather than coming straight into a squad currently planning for Champions League success. City will continue their hunt for another centre-back this summer, with Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly remaining of interest.
